A male radio presenter for a North West radio station was among the seven speedsters arrested on Sunday morning on the R21 freeway near the R562 bridge in the Olifantsfontein area.
Two of the arrested drivers were caught doing 227km/h and 206km/h respectively in a 120km/h zone. The operation was between 5.30am and 8.30am.

Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said the radio presenter (52) was arrested when he was clocked doing 163km/h in a Ford sedan. He advanced the reason that he was rushing to OR Tambo International Airport. He was caught at 7.40am.
A 44-year-old man in a Mercedes Benz ended up behind bars when he clocked a breakneck speed of 227km/h, claiming he was rushing to Germiston where his wife was involved in an accident. The second highest speedster (39) registered a speed of 206km/h at 6.28am. He stated he was late to pick up people at the airport.
The other four arrestees were caught doing speeds of 192, 185, 181 and 163km/h. They all said they were dashing to the airport.
All seven arrested drivers were charged with reckless and negligent driving at Olifantsfontein Police Sation and later released after posting bail of R1 500 each.
