Phineas Kekane was shot to death in the early hours of December 9.
The 50-year-old man who was a tenant at Lekaneng Section was attacked inside his room after other residents in the yard went to sleep.
According to the landlord she went to sleep on Tuesday night and at around 12 midnight she heard gun shots.
“We were not not sure where the shots came from. When I went check, I realised one of the five tenants’ rooms was open and the lights were on.
“The figure of a man was standing in Phineas’ room. There was another person in the room” she said.
“I thought it was Phineas but after a while a man banged the window with an object demanding cell phones. We tried to call neighbours for help and they tried to call the police. When the police arrived we went to Phineas’ room and found his body lying in a pool of blood,” she said.
The family said it is unclear what the motive was for the murder.
Phineas was described as a humble and helpful person.
Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said police is investigating.
