A case of business burglary is being investigated after Avion Park Golf Club was burgled on Monday night (March 14).
According to Alpha Security’s general manager, Morné le Grange, one of their security officers, Gideon Leriba, responded to an alarm at the shop at the club on Highveld Road. The incident occurred at about 9.30pm.

“Upon arrival an unknown male was hiding in the guardhouse. When Gideon drove in the suspect shouted ‘stop’ and pointed his firearm at Gideon. Gideon managed to escape before the suspect fired a shot at him,” Le Grange explained.
“Gideon managed to return fire and fortunately was not injured during the incident.”
According to Kempton SAPS’ spokesman, Capt Jethro Mtshali, the thief got away with a number of items such as television sets, a hi-fi sound system and a computer. At this stage no one has been arrested.
“Once again Gideon has put his life at risk and we at Alpha Security are grateful he is safe and escaped unharmed. It is important for security officers to be safe out there and make sure they always wear their bullet proof vests. The vehicles can always be fixed but a life cannot be replaced,” Alpha Security said in a Facebook post.
