Laerskool Edleen parent hijacked at school

With the help of parents and Edleen staff the suspect was arrested

A parent and Edleen resident was hijacked while waiting for her child in front of Laerskool Edleen on Floria Street on Wednesday afternoon.

The suspect assaulted the woman through the window before taking her cellphone out of her hand, which she was using at the time.

The suspect then took her car and drove off. She was assisted by a fellow parent and staff from the school and a chase ensued.

The suspect was apprehended at a complex close to Flame and was arrested by Norkem Park SAPS.

“We have suffered from hijackings in the past but it happens everywhere. Pparents and community members must be careful and ensure they do not sit with their cellphones in their hands and be vigilant. We have arranged for our security to be upgraded in front of the school as well,” said Laerskool Edleen principal, Hannes Roodt.
