Suspects arrested for Croydon break-ins

The two suspects together has more than 25 pending cases against them

TWO suspects were arrested in connection with numerous house break-ins in Croydon after a resident spotted them in a neighbour’s yard.

The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon last week on Kiewiet Road.

“A resident saw four men in blue overalls tampering with a Volkswagen Amarok bakkie in another resident’s yard. He notified the Croydon patrollers on a Whatsapp group and Sebenza SAPS also went out to investigate,” said spokesperson for Sebenza SAPS, Sgt Sharon Tsotsotso.

On arrival, Tsotsotso and her team arrested two of the suspects and took them to the station. They found one of them had 17 pending cases for housebreaking and two for murder. The other suspect had five cases of housebreaking and four cases of house robbery against him.

The suspects confirmed they were from Alexandra.

“We matched their fingerprints with break-ins reported the past few months in Esther Park and Croydon. The description of the suspects matches almost every case, we think these are the same men who committed all these crimes,” said Tsotsotso.

“We are still looking for two other suspects who also wear blue overalls. We urge the community to be vigilant and keep an eye out for these men,” said Tsotsotso.
