4 suspects arrested following hijacking

A vehicle tracking service responded to the scene soon after a person was hijacked at gunpoint outside a café in Tembisa.

The Rabie Ridge SAPS arrested four suspects and recovered multiple illegal weapons and ammunition.

The find was made following a hijacking that took place in Rabie Ridge on April 2.

A vehicle tracking service responded to the scene soon after a person was hijacked at gunpoint outside a café in Tembisa.

The recovery team reported that on being confronted, the suspects tried to get away. The suspects were subsequently apprehended by Rabie Ridge SAPS officers in a nearby house. Firearms and live ammunition were also recovered.

The Rabie Ridge SAPS also seized illegal narcotics, stolen household items and two more stolen vehicles.

The vehicle recovered at the scene was returned to the owner, who was escaped the ordeal unscathed.

“Armed hijackings are often part of wider criminal activities. We are confident that our vehicle tracking products are helping law enforcement to close in on such activities,” said Pierre Bruwer, of Ctrack SA.
