Suspected burglar found hiding in garden

A neighbour alerted a security company about the break-in

A suspected burglar hiding in a garden of a house on Fir Street in Allen Grove had been arrested on Thursday.

According to Alpha Security, their control centre received a call from a client on Fir Street, stating that his next door neighbour’s house was being burgled.

Alpha response officer Johan van der Merwe responded immediately and was backed up by a fellow officer. Upon arrival Van der Merwe had no way of entering the premises. The police and owner of the house arrived shortly after.

Once the owner had opened the gate, Van der Merwe and police officers entered the yard to ensure it was safe.

Something caught Van der Merwe’s eye. When he went to check it out, he saw the suspect hiding in the garden. He was placed under arrest.
