
A taxi owner, Mr Stompie Dumisani Mlambo, was shot and killed while waiting at a traffic light.
The shooting occurred on May 3 in Tembisa
Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said according to members of the Provincial Investigation Unit, a complaint of a shooting at the corner of DM Marokane and Rev Namane streets, in Maokeng Section Tembisa, was received and officers responded.
“On arrival, Sergeant Moloto from the Provincial Investigation Unit noticed a silver VW Amarok with several bullet holes in it.
“Inside the car was a man who had bullet wounds to the stomach, hands and head. His right leg was also fractured,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
He said the 50-year-old victim was later identified as Mr Mlambo of Hospital Hill, Tembisa.
“According to a person passing by, the deceased was waiting at a red traffic light when a white, old model Toyota Corolla, registration number unknown, stopped parallel to the deceased’s vehicle. There were three occupants in the car and all were armed.
“They started shooting at the victim and drove away,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
The deceased had tried to jump to the passenger side but his attackers kept on shooting.
“It was later confirmed by his wife that he is a taxi owner at the Ivory Park Taxi Association. All role players were informed. Inside the car was a large sum of cash and a cellular phone” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
