Birchleigh North family robbed, car recovered

The recovered vehicle was taken to SAPS Van Ryn pound in Benoni after all the formalities were completed

THE car of a Birchleigh North family that was taken during a house robbery on Tuesday, had been swiftly recovered by the metro police.

The robbers struck just after 6am at the house on Gabriel Street. Electrical appliances and a silver VW Polo were taken, Lt Col Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said.

A lookout for the stolen Polo was dispatched at 6.56pm by Tracker SA. The Polo was recovered at 7.56am in Ivory Park.

“EMPD Loss Control Unit members jumped into action and the vehicle was recovered intact at the intersection of Makhado and Bosiu streets in Ivory Park. No arrests were made as the vehicle was found abandoned,” Kgasago said.

The recovered vehicle was taken to SAPS Van Ryn pound in Benoni after all the formalities were completed.
