A man was shot during a robbery at Winnie Mandela Zone 2 on June 14 at about 2am.
Constable Patricia Mgijima said a 27-year-old man was sleeping with his two brothers when they heard noises outside.
“They screamed for help. Three unknown men entered the shack and one pointed a firearm at them. They were ordered to lie down and they did,” said Const Mgijima.
She said the suspects spoke in Shangaan and demanded money. They took an undisclosed amount of cash, a laptop, two cartons of cigarettes and two cellular phones before fleeing the scene.
“Later it was discovered that a man was shot by the suspects while checking what was happening after he heard the screaming for help,” said Const Mgijima.
“According to the victim’s brother, the victim was shot in the head, right thigh, buttocks and in the left hand palm. He was taken to the Tembisa Hospital,” said Const Mgijima.
