UPDATE: Civilian critically wounded in shootout at Pretoria mall

They have stabilised the patient before transporting the person to hospital

At 11:49 this morning EMER-G-MED paramedics responded to reports of a shooting at Brooklyn Mall in Pretoria.

It’s believed there was an armed robbery at a store and while attempting to flee the mall, the suspects were met by police and mall security. A shootout ensued Max Cohen of Emer-G-Med said.

On arrival paramedics found that a security manager had been shot and was in a critical condition after having been caught in crossfire between police and the suspects.

The critically injured man required immediate Advanced Life Support interventions and once stable, paramedics rushed him hospital for urgent surgery.

There is a heavy SAPS presence at the mall due to ongoing criminal investigations.
