One nabbed for possession of stolen car

According to an Ivory Park Community Police Forum (CPF) member, the vehicle was parked and abandoned on Thursday next to a house.

The Ivory Park SAPS arrested a 37-year-old man for possession of a stolen vehicle in Ivory Park, Extension 2.

The arrest occurred on Friday night last week.

The Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, said the suspect was found in possession of the stolen black Kia Picanto which was allegedly hijacked in Douglasdale this month.

According to an Ivory Park Community Police Forum (CPF) member, the vehicle was parked and abandoned on Thursday next to a house.

“Members of the CPF noticed it and guarded the vehicle from a distance. On Friday, the 37-year-old man came with the car keys and unlocked it. They approached him and asked him about the ownership of the vehicle. He said it belonged to his sister. He later ran away. They managed to apprehend him and called the police,” said W/O Sekgobela.

W/O Sekgobela said it was later established that the vehicle had been stolen.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the Ivory Park SAPS.
