Dreaming the impossible dream

While some men of his age are turning to crime, Sammy ‘Dollar’ Sehoana (33) is making his mark in the online advertising industry.
Mr Sehoana, an entrepreneur and motivational speaker, runs his business called 82Ads.com
This father of two children, a boy and girl, is self-employed and an author as well.
In March this year he released a motivational book titled ‘Dialogues between dream-makers’ which will be launched officially in September.
Mr Sehoana, who matriculated at Jiyane Secondary School, said he did not obtain a tertiary education due to financial constraints.
After matric, he thought to himself that sitting at home, whining about the lack of employment, would only make him a miserable person.
Therefore, because of the passion for his township, he decided to voluntarily motivate the youth. At the same time he operated his small business of a car wash.
He then joined a telecommunications company where he worked as a costumer service consultant.
“I always wanted to be self employed. Since my school days I knew was an entrepreneur. With very little resources and lack of knowledge, I ventured into business,” he said.
Mr Sehoana said he later left the telecommunications company after he felt he had reached his limit and needed to do something for himself.
“I then ventured into events management. I remember my inaugural host was at Imbizo where Ms Rita Zwane sponsored me with a free venue and food. The seminar was about the business of doing business.
“I realised that people like Ms Zwane have a heart for people and she would love to see other young entrepreneurs growing and becoming successful,” said Mr Sehoana.
Mr Sehoana said his events management business fell apart and lost investors but he never lost hope.
“I had to take a different route and looked for a job so that I could pay my debts and start business afresh,” he recalled.
Mr Sehoana is orginally from Ga-Rankuwa in Limpopo, however, he was raised in Ivory Park. He said a business is not started by finance but action.
“Most people spend their time worrying about what they don’t have instead of focusing on what they do have. I believe that the things we have around us are the resources we could use in order to start putting our thoughts into action,” he said.
Mr Sehoana is advising young entrepreneurs to think globally.
“Don’t just have an idea and launch it. Do research first for the idea to be profitable. I am hoping to launch my new online advertising company in Lesotho before the end of this year,” he said.
Mr Sehoana said he wants to go around motivating people and help them to realise and understand their potential.
His motto is nothing is impossible.
