Four on the run after ATM bombing in Croydon

The four made a run in a silver/blue BMW with fake registration plates

POLICE are in search of four suspects who fled with an undisclosed amount of cash after an ATM bombing incident in Croydon.

The four allegedly bombed an ATM at a Shell garage on Cnr Brabazon and Driefontein Road on Sunday (July 10) at around 5am.

Sebenza SAPS spokesman Const Sharon Tsotsotso said there was CCTV footage of the incident that showed the suspects arriving in a silver/blue BMW.

The registration plates of the vehicle were fake.

“Two of the suspects were armed with rifles when they entered the fuel station shop. They took all the employees into some sort of storeroom before they proceeded to connect their equipment and bomb the ATM situated inside the shop. The four then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money,” explained Tsotsotso.

Tsotsotso said the Edenvale police were investigating the case.
