Mystery surrounds death of man found in Edleen

The victim was found lying topless, he has not been identified and the cause of death is unknown

A murder case is being investigated by police after the mysterious death of a man in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man was found dead next to garbage bags in front of a house on Modderhill Street, Edleen with visible wounds to the back of his head and elbow.

According to Norkem Park acting spokesman, W/O Mahlodi Langa, the man was found topless, lying on his back, facing to his left. He was wearing blue jeans and red-and-white training tekkies.

“Police received a call just before 8am informing them of the deceased. Officers proceeded to the scene. At the scene one of the officers noticed bloodstains on the front wall of the house where the victim was found,” explained Langa.

Langa also pointed out that upon further investigations the victims bloodied T-shirt was found inside a plastic bag in the rubbish.

“Bloodstains were also found on top of some of the plastic bags in the rubbish pile and a brick was found lying in the yard,” he added.

The man has not been identified and the cause of death is unknown.

Langa said they suspected foul play but would be investigating.
