An MTN shop at Phumalani Mall in Tembisa was robbed of cellular phones and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Captain Manyadza Ralidzivha said on July 6 seven people entered the shop and acted as if they were customers.
“While one employee was helping a customer, six men acted as if they were looking for cellular phones.
“One of them approached the teller and showed her a firearm,” said Capt Ralidzivha.
“He told the woman that it was a robbery.”
The employees and the customer were taken to a room.
One of the suspects took an unknown number of cellphones from the safe .
One employee was forced to open the cash registers and cash was taken.
“They locked them in the store room. Suspects disappeared amongst the people in the mall,” Capt Ralidzivha said.
