Money safe bombed

Petrol station robbed in Tembisa.

A money safe was bombed on July 12 at about 1.40am.

The incident took place at a petrol station on Andrew Maphethu Drive near Umthambeka Section.

Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said the complainant, who is a supervisor, alleged that they were approached by eight suspects who were all armed with firearms.

“The suspects instructed them to lie down and to not press the panic button. The suspects inserted explosives into the drop safe and bombed it once. The explosives failed to open the safe and the suspects took two till drawers with an undisclosed amount of cash,” said Captain Rallidzhivha.

He said the suspects fled in a silver Toyota Corolla, with the registration number WFZ 812 GP.

“No shots were fired and no one sustained any injuries. A case of business robbery was opened at the Tembisa South Police Station,” said Captain Ralidzhivha.
