Bakkie stolen at airport recovered with damage

The owner was out of the province when the theft occurred

A Toyota Hilux bakkie, which was stolen at OR Tambo International Airport, has been recovered in Meadowdale, by the EMPD.

Lieut Col Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said the owner of the vehicle was out of the province when the theft occurred.

He added that the metro police received information about the theft at around 7am on Friday, July 22. The grey Toyota Hilux was tracked down in Meadowdale, in the Germiston area. “Working with officials from Tracker SA, the police located the vehicle at an industrial site, with its dashboard and doors damaged, as well as the rear window broken. The front bumper was also found to be slightly damaged,” he said.
