Truck hijackers get away with lots of fabric softener

The sly hijackers unhooked the trailers in Isando and abandoned the horse in Chloorkop

HIJACKERS got away with fabric softeners worth hundreds of thousands of Rand, before the metro police impounded the trailers in Isando.

Lieut Col Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said the articulated truck with two trailers, transporting fabric softener valued at R1.2-million, was hijacked in Muldersdrift on Wednesday, July 20.

The sly hijackers unhooked the trailers in Isando and abandoned the horse in Chloorkop.

“Information about the hijacked truck was received by law enforcers at 7.44pm and, by 8pm, the horse was located in Chloorkop. The recovery was the result of a joint effort by the EMPD police,” Kgasago added.

The missing trailers were subsequently recovered the same night, at around midnight, in Isando, with almost half of the cargo missing.
