Man killed in shootout at Edenvale shopping centre

It is believed there was a shootout between the police and an unknown number of gunmen

A man, believed to be in his 20s, was killed this morning after an apparent shootout at a retail centre in Edenvale, Russel Meiring of ER24 said.

ER24 Paramedics, along with another private service, arrived on the scene and found a light motor vehicle in the parking area surrounded by a heavy police presence.

On inspection, paramedics found the man lying next to his vehicle.

“Assessment showed the man had sustained a gunshot wound to his head and his abdomen and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on the scene,” Meiring said.

It is believed there was a shootout between the police and an unknown number of gunmen. The exact details surrounding the shooting is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
