SAPS disposes of confiscated alcohol

Alcohol worth over R8000 was poured into a sewerage drain in Tembisa.

The Rabie Ridge SAPS disposed of alcohol confiscated from illegal liquor traders on July 19.

Constable Jacob Nhlongo said over 55 cases of alcohol were thrown down the drain.

“This was alcohol confiscated over the weekend around our policing area, which includes Phomolong, Mayibuye, Kanana, and Rabie Ridge,” said Const Nhlongo.

He said liquor traders must comply with and get licencing to avoid such situations.

“If a trader doesn’t comply, we take the stock and fine them R1 500.

“These traders are a problem because they sell to under age community members and they don’t conform to trading times,” said Constable Nhlongo.

“Dumping the alcohol is SAPS protocol,” said Const Nhlongo.
