Alert officers nab pair

"The police chased the vehicle and managed to stop it."

The Ekurhuleni North Cluster SAPS arrested two suspects, a man and woman, for possession of a presumably hijacked motor vehicle on July 28.

“It is alleged that EMPD officers were patrolling Temong Section when they noticed a silver Ford Figo driving recklessly and ignoring all road signs.

“The police chased the vehicle and managed to stop it. The driver was ordered to step out and was searched. He was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm with filed off serial numbers and ammunition, a plastic bag full of airtime and cash,” said Constable Patricia Mgijima.

The vehicle tested positive with an Ivory Park case of hijacking.

“The suspects will appear before the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court to answer a charge of possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.”
