Man arrested for stolen pharmaceuticals

In other incidents on the same day, two suspects were arrested for possession of drugs

POLICE are investigating an uncanny incident of a man found carrying a large plastic bag containing various pharmaceutical products on Friday last week (August 12).

This comes after the 29-year-old suspect was stopped and searched by members of the Kempton Police’s crime prevention unit.

The police officers were patrolling by the railway station in Isando at about 5pm when they noticed the man walking with the plastic bag, police spokesperson Capt Jethro Mtshali said.

“Upon discovering the pharmaceutical products, police members questioned the man about how he got them or where he purchased the products. However, the man failed to provide evidence or a reasonable explanation,” Mtshali said.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with possession of suspected stolen goods.

In other incidents on the same day, two suspects were arrested for possession of drugs.

One of the suspects (29) was also stopped and searched by members of the crime prevention unit on Kempton Road at about 7am. Police found two plastic bags on him containing dagga.

Then later at about 7pm a second suspect (30) was detained for being in possession of marijuana.

The suspects, both Nigerian nationals, will appear in court soon.
