Police officers search schools

"Nothing dangerous was found in possession of the pupils."

Members of the Ivory Park SAPS and Cluster, Youth Crime Prevention Desk, Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), and the Community Policing Forum (CPF) conducted school searches on Friday last week.

The searches took place at two high schools, Umqhele and Eqinisweni Secondary Schools.

According to the Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the purpose was to search for dangerous weapons and drugs.

“Nothing dangerous was found in possession of the pupils. We are also appealing to the parents to take care of their children and to help the police in fighting crime by searching the school bags. This will help ensure the children are not carrying weapons,” said Capt Sekgobela.
