A five-year-old girl has been taken to a place of safety after police found her badly injured after allegedly being beaten by her mother (40) on Wednesday night.
According to Kempton Police spokesman, Capt Jethro Mtshali, police were summoned to a guesthouse in the Kempton CBD at about 7.30pm, where they found the little girl crying hysterically inside one of the rooms.
“She was bleeding profusely and had sustained bruises on her face and legs,” Mtshali confirmed.
“It is also alleged her mother had pushed her against the walls.”
The woman has been arrested on child abuse-related charges and the girl was taken to a place of safety.
“It is shocking that a mother can be so brutal towards her own daughter, especially during Women’s Month when the nation is celebrating women’s freedom and improving the lives of all women,” Mtshali concluded.
