Principal hands over learners’ drugs to police

The school will conduct its own internal investigation into the matter

OPERATION Basadi continued on Wednesday morning, when Kempton Park Police conducted a routine search at two Kempton Park high schools.

Police searched Spartan High on Kelvin Road and Global College on West Street as part of the crime-awareness campaign conducted by the station’s policewomen.

The officers were assisted by the K9 Unit.

Two more schools are clean from drugs

No drugs or any other suspicious substances or weapons were found on the pupils, according to the police’s spokesperson, Capt Jethro Mtshali.

“The principal of Spartan High did, however, hand over to us drugs teachers had confiscated from learners last week,” Mtshali said.

These comprised two small plastic packets of marijuana in one bag, and a white, powdery substance in the second bag, suspected to be either cocaine or  cat.

The school will conduct its own internal investigation into the matter.
