Female SAPS officers campaign against drugs

Female SAPS officers campaign against drugs.

Olifantsfontein SAPS female police officers held a fun walk as a drug awareness campaign on August 26.

Constable Mokete Serakwana said the campaign was held under the theme “Women taking Action”.

“The departments that took part were the South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (Sanca), Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD), social workers and emergency medical services,” said Constable Serakwana.

The fun walk took off from the corner of M57 and Apollo Road heading to Madibatlou Middle School, where, upon arrival, Sanca members educated learners about drugs.

In her address Captain Nompi Maila talked about domestic violence, bullying and abuse.

“Learners were also advised to report unusual behaviour,” said Constable Serakwana.

“The walk proceeded to L&J squatter camp where we distributed domestic violence pamphlets and thereafter people were transported back to Olifantsfontein SAPS where they had refreshments,” she said.
