Life 4 U Foundation’s volunteer, Ms Mpho Mofokeng, won the runner-up prize for the Outstanding Youth Philanthropist of the Year at the second annual Vita Basadi Awards.
On August 31, the Gauteng Provincial Legislature hosted its second Annual Vita Basadi Awards at the Gauteng Legislature in Johannesburg.
The prestigious gala dinner was hosted by the legislature and the Honourable Speaker of the Legislature Ntombi Mekgwe to celebrate the women and heroines residing in Gauteng.
The event gathered celebrities, politicians, young and old outstanding women residing in all parts of Gauteng.
Life 4 U Foundation thanked the community of Tembisa for nominating its co-founder Ms Mpho Mofokeng for the award.
Ms Mofokeng was also nominated in two other categories.
“The fact that the community of Tembisa nominated me in three different categories really shows that the work we are doing at Life 4 U Foundation is appreciated by the community of Tembisa and Ivory Park.
“I thank my community for the support they are showing our organisation. I would also like to thank Moriting community members for their continued support, our sponsors and individual donors like Zanele Hlatswayo and her company staff members, Life 4 U Foundation volunteers and Simon Molekwa, my leader and mentor,” commented Ms Mofokeng.
Meanwhile the founder of the organisation, Mr Simon Molekwa, congratulated Mpho for her passion to serve the community and making sure that the widows and the disadvantaged in the community are not neglected.
“I would also like to thank the community for nominating Mpho and supporting our organisation, not forgetting to commend all mothers and sisters in Tembisa and Ivory Park who are making a difference each and every day in their communities and organisations. Women are pillars and sunshine in every household and institution, without their love and efforts the world would just be a secluded place,” said Mr Molekwa.
Ms Mofokeng is managing the poverty and disaster relief programme.
