#MakingIt – Taking photos for a living

Mr Tsodo has been a photographer for almost 13 years now.

Among the countless challenges that the youth face throughout their daily lives, the biggest and most flustering is the lack of employment that concerns all those who are struggling to get jobs in this country.

Mr Siyabulela Tsodo (32) from Kaalfontein Extension 22, said after he struggled to find employment, he considered making a living from photography.

Mr Tsodo has been a photographer for almost 13 years now.

“I started working for myself after I failed to get a job. It was very difficult and I couldn’t cope. I had to think out of box and see what I can do to make a living,” said Mr Tsodo.

He originally hails from Port Elizabeth and Mr Tsodo said he always had a burning desire for photography.

“I love art work. At school I took part in acting and was also an actor in a local drama series. I was inspired by the directors when I got the chance to hold a camera for the first time. I then received a camera as a gift and that developed my love for photography even more,” added Mr Tsodo.

Mr Tsodo is currently operating a well-established company called Morning Star Production.

He takes photos for events such as graduations, weddings, modelling porfolios, portraits and even videos.

Photography is an exciting field that needs tolerance and persistence. You get to meet people with different perspective, places and things happening around us,” said Mr Tsodo.
