A trailer with its load of scrap metal is still missing after the metro police recovered the abandoned horse.
Lt Col Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said the abandoned horse was found at the intersection of the R23 and 1st Road.
The articulated vehicle fully-loaded with scrap metal was hijacked in the early hours of Friday morning in Pretoria. The driver was thrown out of the truck along the N14 in the Pretoria area.
“The hijacking took place around 1am. The driver managed to get assistance and informed his company, which in turn alerted the vehicle tracking company. A swift response from the EMPD Equestrian Unit members resulted in the horse being tracked to the intersection the same day,” Kgasago said.
“After the necessary formalities were conducted on the horse, it was taken to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep pound in Benoni for safe-keeping. Investigations by the police are ongoing in an effort to apprehend the suspects and locate the missing trailer with its load.
