Meat thieves nabbed at Shoprite Checkers

The pair is believed to be boyfriend and girlfriend

A couple, believed to be boyfriend and girlfriend, was nabbed for stealing meat at Shoprite Checkers in Norkem Mall on Monday.

Capt Lesibana Molokomme, Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, said the two, aged 41 and 42, entered the store shortly before 2pm.

They took a shopping basket and placed a packet of Simba chips and butter into it.

It is alleged they were then spotted walking to the meat section where the man took beef valued at R278.06 and put it into his girlfriend’s hand bag, explained Molokomme.

“The two left the basket and went straight to the exit. Security asked to search them and they were found them in possession of the meat.”

The two were arrested.
