Allen Grove resident wins round 2 of cooking competition
She will now go on to the semi-finals of the competition
ALLEN Grove resident, Cerina Storm, won round two of the Kombuis Kaptein cooking competition.
The competition is a collaborative effort between Serengeti Golf Club and Thermomix SA and the second instalment of the contest was held on August 15.
Storm went head-to-head against Chante Rabie and Esther de Lange where the theme was “East Rand meets Asia” and they all had the chance to show off their best home-cooked recipes.
“The food presented was of very high standard and every contestant embraced the theme ‘East Rand meets Asia’ 100 per cent. It is amazing to see the creativity and commitment unfold before your eyes. The utilisation of the Themomix and induction plate was also very interesting to watch among competitors,” head chef at Serengeti Golf Club, Klaus Beqman, commented.
Although all the participants did well, it was Storm’s Seattle Baked Salmon with a sweet and sour cucumber pickle starter, fried beef medallions with creamy mushroom sauce, spiced young beans and pumpkin fritters main course, and sweet and spicy dumplings dessert that sealed the deal for the judges.
“I have a passion for cooking but the atmosphere in this competition was so welcoming and exciting, it made the competition even more memorable,” the elated Storm said.
She will now go on to the semi-finals of the competition.
All proceeds from the competition go towards a local Kempton Park charity.
