Tembisa West schools benefit from campaign

Eight school to renovate facilities this September.

Eight Tembisa West schools began September with Cashbuild building materials vouchers totalling R120 000.

Ms Babalwa Jonga, from Wired Communications, said each school received a voucher worth R15 000.

Ms Jonga said the eight are expected to come to the store this month to spend their vouchers.

Cashbuild Tembisa West store held an opening ceremony on August 18 and announced the schools as the winners of the Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition.

Artworks were judged and three winners from each school were named.

Winners received Cashbuild Art-at-Heart gold, silver and bronze certificates for first, second and third place respectively.

Manager’s Choice Award went to Khwezi Bungane from Dulcie September Primary School.

Ms Jonga said plumbing equipment, pothole fixing material and paving were some of the improvements that the schools will spend on when using their Cashbuild vouchers.

“The schools are happy about their winnings.”

“Our learners are very active and therefore a lot of equipment breaks easily, the school would like to purchase plumbing equipment to ensure they are ready for anything,” said principal of Kaalfontein Primary School, Mr Emmanuel Mohale.

Mayibuye Primary School’s principal, Mr Kgabo Rammutla, said classrooms have holes which are very dangerous to learners and teachers.

“At the moment the holes are covered with wooden planks which is not very neat. We would like to start by covering them with cement,” said Mr K Rammutla

“Since the Art-at-Heart campaign was launched 15 years ago, Cashbuild has helped more than 2 500 schools in Southern Africa with over R29-million worth of building materials,” said Ms Jonga.
