Two men detained for two separate rapes

In the first case, a 12-year old girl from Ivory Park was allegedly raped by a 23-year old man who is believed to have blocked the girl from leaving his place of residence.

In one of its ongoing operations, Ivory Park SAPS arrested two men, both in their early 20s, for the alleged rape of two girls in Ivory Park in separate incidents.

The arrests were made on Wednesday last week.

In the first case, a 12-year-old girl from Ivory Park was allegedly raped by a 23-year-old man who is believed to have prevented the girl from leaving his place of residence.

The girl had visited the suspect’s place in the company of her friend.

It was when the girl’s mother managed to locate her whereabouts that it was learnt of the ordeal that her daughter had been through.

In the second incident, a 24-year-old was nabbed by the same police team, led by the station commander, Brigadier Mbongeni David Ngcobo.

The suspect is alleged to have committed this rape a while back.

He was arrested after the matter was brought to police’s attention.

The cases were handed to a specialised team of detectives from the SAPS’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, for further investigation.
