A business owner was kidnapped and seemingly burnt to death in his car, on September 14.
His body was found inside his torched vehicle, in Tembisa.
The Tembisa South SAPS received information about a business robbery in progress in Mfuyaneni Section.
“Police responded to the complaint and, on arrival, found that one of the victims, who is a male foreign national, had been kidnapped by the robbers, who drove off with the victims’ Mazda 2,” said Capt Neldah Sekgobela.
She added that two of the robbers were still on the scene.
“The robbers realised that the police were on the scene and started firing shots at them. The police retaliated and one of the intruders was shot and killed,” said Capt Sekgobela.
”The other man managed to run away from the scene and no one from the police was injured.”
In the yard, police found another male victim, who is also a foreign national.
“The victim told police that there were about six robbers; two were armed with firearms and another two with a steel pipe and a hammer.”
“He said the robbers forcefully broke the burglar door, while the staff were serving their customers.
“The robbers allegedly took cash, air time and a TV, and then poured boiling water over the victim’s hand, before kidnapping his younger brother,” said Capt Sekgobela.
“Later the police received information that the car, which had been stolen from the scene, had been torched at the Enhlanzeni Hostel, in Tembisa.
”The charred body of the victim was found inside the vehicle.
When the police arrived at the scene, the victim was certified dead by the paramedics.”
Capt Sekgobela said five suspects are still at large and anyone with information can contact the Tembisa South SAPS on 011 571 4102 or 011 571 4075.
