Zola Jive shoots first music video

Zola "YAK 82" Jive shot his first music video to be launched this month.

Zola “YAK 82” Jive filmed his very first music video last month.

Jim Kagiso Nkoana said they are looking to formally launch the video in September.

YAK 82 filmed his music video free of charge after he won a competition run by Dream Team Studios.

YAK 82 said he entered the competition, confident that he was going to win.

Dream Team Studio ran the competition where a winning musician would get an opportunity to shoot a music video of their favourite song without paying a cent.

The name of the song for which the video was filmed is “Weidors”.

The 21-year-old hip hop artist said the song is about the flashy life of fashion, music and hustling live with his friends.

“I chose this song because it is already popular with my fans and because of the response it got around Tembisa,” said YAK 82.

He said he was positive the song would be chosen hence the symbolic meaning of number 82 in his stage name.

YAK 82 said the number 82 is a powerful message of self-belief, faith and trust and he got this online before he coined his stage name.

“When I was told that I had won the competition, I was a bit shocked but I knew I had potential,” he said.

Before the Dream Team Studios competition he had plans to shoot the video but he didn’t have enough money for the project.

“If I were to shoot the video on my own I would have to save up R9 000 which I didn’t have. For me to shoot the video free is a privilege and an opportunity to show young people that dreaming is not limited,” he said.

“I would like to thank the Dream Team Studios for fulfilling what I have always dreamed about and I am deeply humbled by the experience.”

He had never filmed a video before and acknowledged that filming a video is hard work and it needs a lot of energy.

“I was on my feet the whole day and no time to rest. It was a great experience. Now I am knocking on record companies’ doors, ” he said.

He said he is distributing his extended play (EP).

This former poet started rapping when he was only 19 and honed his skill to where he is today.

“I want to own a record label one day,” he said.
