Arts festival to honour heritage

The festival will feature the finest traditional music performers and various cultural exhibition showcases.

Residents of Tembisa and the surrounding areas are invited to the fourth Annual Hlanganani Traditional Music and Arts Festival.

The festival will take place at the Mehlareng Stadium on Saturday, October 8.

For the first time, Tembisa will get to host this calabash of African traditions, music and arts that South Africa has to offer.

In line with Heritage Month, the festival will promote and uplift traditional and urban music, along with dance, by bringing together traditional artists to a festival like never before.

This event aims to promote and uplift African traditions and heritage.

The festival will feature performances by the renowned Benny Mayengani, Team Mzadzi, the legendary Colbert Mukwevho, Mozambique’s Refiller boy, Cral Spears (Charmagal) Hangalasa, General Muzkaanga, Ingane zoma, Mjikijelwa, Vuyelwa, DJ Brian (ML FM), Madlela Skhobokhobo and more.

The festival will have three stages for arts and dramatic performances to showcase South Africa’s diversity.

“This is a celebration of our roots, come and make sure you remember where you come from, where you going and how you are getting there. We invite all members of Tembisa to come and showcase their talent at the festival by exhibiting their traditional attires, crafts and more.”

The festival will start at 2 pm.
