THE group has been selected to perform as the finalè act at the South African Talent Championships gala award ceremony

THE Norkem Park Primary School choir won the South African Talent Championships (SATCH) competition and with their voices have wowed many audiences on many stages.

The group has been selected to perform as the final act at the South African Talent Championships gala award ceremony. They have also been selected to perform in Orlando, Florida, in the United States of America in December.

According to the school’s deputy principal, Shelley Anderson, the senior choir learners of the school have achieved much success in the short time they have been competing. Anderson said their first public appearance was in May 2015, when they were invited to perform at a choir festival. They were announced as the winners of that competition and have gone from strength to strength since.

“As of this year, after an adjudication, they were invited to audition for the regional round of the South African Talent Championships. They went on to make it to the national round of the competition in Pretoria in the October holidays and were awarded platinum medals for achieving over 90% for each of the songs they performed,” said Anderson.

She said the choir had competed at several eisteddfods, festivals and competitions this year, achieving very good results throughout.

“The choir mistress Mrs Evie Nel and the pianist Mrs Daleen Kriel, are both thrilled at the choir’s achievements. Norkem Park Primary School choir is a true reflection of hard work, perseverance and commitment. We look forward to bigger and better things in the future.”
