Imbizo scoops Woman in Business Award
This prestigious award was presented to the award-winning entrepreneur, founder and executive chairwoman, Ms Rita Zwane.
Imbizo Shisanyama Busy Corner has scooped the Woman in Business Award of the Year 2016.
This prestigious award was presented to the award-winning entrepreneur, founder and executive chairwoman, Ms Rita Zwane, at a glittering function of the South African Chamber of Commerce held at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park on October 19.
In 2013, Imbizo Shisanyama scooped the NSBC Small Business Champion Award.
Other awards received include the Gift of the Givers Award, received from the Department of Social Development in Gauteng.
This was in recognition of her dedication and commitment to her community, which was clearly evident in 2012 when she launched the Imbizo Shisanyama Bursary Programme. Connie Maseko was one of the beneficiaries of the bursary. She graduated recently, after completing a three-year diploma in food and hospitality management.
After nearly two decades of hard work, patience, dedication and sacrifice, it is no surprise to see Imbizo Shisanyama as one of the finalists of Africa’s top performing small to medium businesses, as it finished runners up in Africa’s Growth Institute, scooping the service sector award in the SMME category.
“These businesses are the essential catalyst which, when ignited in a sustainable manner, addresses the issue of unemployment throughout the entire value chain. As these small businesses thrive, more employment and sales opportunities are created in the larger companies that form part of the value chain,” said a proud Ms Zwane.
In September, MaZwane as she is affectionately known by her patrons, awarded staff members with long service awards at the annual Masibambane Awards ceremony.
Staff members were rewarded for their commitment, dedication and service to the company.
The awards were handed out to recipients by MaZwane and the newly appointed managing director of Imbizo Shisanyama, Mr Senzo Mhlongo.
“This move will provide me the opportunity to work closely with a board, which I will form, to drive our future strategy, while I allow the next generation to take the brand to the next height.
“Together we will start to build a better tomorrow, today, and leave our younger generation a legacy they can be proud of,” she said.
