The company visited Ms Mofokeng to learn more about her project and she was thereafter recognised for her contribution in the community.
“This has been great. We’ve never received such sponsorship before and this will make our job so much easier and better,” said Ms Mofokeng.
Mr Maponyane said the Life 4 U Foundation is a social welfare programme which assists impoverished families, widows, orphans and disaster-stricken families with food parcels and clothes.
“The maze meal company is making a comeback on South Africa’s television screens this November,” said Mr Peane Maponyane, the senior brand manager.
“Through short television clips, the company will celebrate the community self-starters in South African townships. We celebrate the great works within communities.”
He said Tembisa viewers will have to wait and see the great news Ms Mpho Mofokeng received.
The show will begin on November 10 at 6.20pm on SABC1.
“We are reminding South Africans that legends are not only found on the soccer field or on big stages, they are also within our homes eKasi,” said Mr Peane Maponyane.
“Our product is often found and used in strong communities; it therefore gives us great joy to have the ability to identify and celebrate these communities along with their legends.”
He said they identified exceptional, ground-breaking community projects deserving of recognition and support. These projects will be celebrated on the brand’s new television show, hosted by celebrity mentor Kabelo Mabalane.
The show follows the journey of six extraordinary individuals who have successfully launched empowerment projects in townships with minimal assistance.
