Free apples for Tembisa organisations

Community based organisations received 300 000 apples for this Christmas.

Local organisations received a donation of 300 000 apples.

The distribution took place between December 7 to 9.

The initiative, called the Dhladhla Foundation Apple Affair, distributed the fruit to community based organisations (CBO’s), Non Profit Organisations (NPO’s) hospices, old age homes, children’s homes, churches, clinics and the Tembisa Hospital.

Founder of the NPO, Mr Sipho Dhladhla, said the Dhladhla Foundation’s committee decided on giving apples for donations as an encouragement of healthy eating and living.

“An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Previously for Christmas donation projects, we gave blankets, food parcels, children’s toys and school shoes to the needy residents,” said Mr Dhladhla.

Mr Dhladhla said he would like to thank the staff and community volunteers who made the project possible.

“To our beneficiaries, we thank you for sending the letters of appreciation and we hope to do more in the new year.”
