Young man killed in fiery accident this morning

Ekurhuleni Metro Police officers were also on scene and performed on scene investigations

A young man was killed in a single vehicle crash near the intersection of the P91 and Zuurfontein roads in the early hours Monday morning.

William Ntladi, Ekurhuleni Emergency Services spokesman, said the vehicle erupted into flames immediately after it had crashed into a steel pillar.

Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services’ rescue team received the call around 1:55am and swiftly responded to the scene. On arrival the vehicle was still well alight.

After the flames were extinguished, the charred body of a male person was found still stuck in the wreckage behind the steering wheel, Ntladi said.

“It is believed the car was travelling at high speed prior the crash judged by the magnitude of the impact. Specialised hydraulic rescue tools had to be used to recover the body from the wreck.

Ekurhuleni Metro Police officers were also on scene and performed on scene investigations.
