Santa saves young man’s life on his rounds
About 6 000 packets of sweets and popcorn were handed out
THE NPCPF Santa drive for sector 3 (Terenure and Kempton Park West) and sector 1 (Van Riebeeck Park) was a huge success.
Santa also saved a life on Wednesday night.
Patrollers joined hands this year to give residents a joyful two evenings with a Father Christmas, Mother Christmas and four elves in their respective areas and kids waited patiently for Santa.
During the drive in Van Riebeeck park Santa was delayed for about 45 minutes as he came across an incident where a man attempted to commit suicide next to the road. Santa jumped into action and started to massage the gentleman’s heart as he had a very weak pulse. ER24 was part of Santa’s convoy and came to the scene within minutes.
The good news is this young man is alive and doing well.
Santa continued on his way to rejoin the convoy of vehicles sharing the joys of Christmas to all the Van Riebeeck Park kids.
Terenure and Kempton Park West kids had just as much fun.
Loads and loads of popcorn and sweets were handed out. About 6 000 packets of popcorn and sweets were handed out between the two sectors.
The forum thanked all the residents who donated sweets and a huge thank you to Willards for its sponsorship of 100 boxes of popcorn. Their original goal was to make up 3 000 packets of sweets and popcorn.
The 1 400 packets that was left after the Santa drives were donated to various orginisations.
