Baby Rikard goes home after almost a month

Rikard arrived at 34 weeks and was delivered by an emergency caesarian

LITTLE Rikard le Roux, who made his unexpected arrival on Christmas Day, was released from hospital on Thursday last week.

He’s gained enough weight and at 2,06kg, he was well enough to join his Norkem Park parents, Salome and Jacques, at home.

For the first-time parents it was a happy day they celebrated with balloons, when fetching him.

Rikard arrived at 34 weeks and was delivered by an emergency caesarian at Netcare Linmed Hospital. He weighed only 1.45kg.

Salome was admitted to hospital on December 21. On the afternoon of December 25 she had severe pain and it was decided it would be best to deliver the baby earlier.
