Mayor donates school uniforms
The mayor also emphasised the importance of education and pledged to intervene in the needs raised by the school’s principal.
Winnie Mandela Secondary School learners received new school uniforms on January 18.
Ekurhuleni’s executive mayor Clr Mzwandile Masina, as part of the #BackToTheFuture programme, presented 200 school uniforms in total.
Clr Masina, accompanied by MMC Clr Lesiba Mpya and MMC Clr Doctor Xhakaza, said Winnie Mandela Secondary School is one of the schools that the City of Ekurhuleni is adopting.
The mayor also emphasised the importance of education and pledged to intervene in the needs raised by the school’s principal.
“We all come from township schools. What we must always know as students that the condition or our background should not define who we are. We must make a meaningful contribution ourselves by charting the way forward,” said Clr Masina.
He told the learners to learn as much as they can because society appreciates people who are successful.
The learners were also inspired and encouraged by motivational speaker Siya Xuza, a motivational speaker who graduated from Harvard University.
