Ward 7 community members made their mark when they cast their votes in the August 2016 local government elections.
Councillor Thabang Jiyane took office as the ward 7 councillor and earned the community’s trust as a befitting leader.
The councillor is not a novice in leadership structures, as he has been involved with the ANC youth since the 1990s.
He rose through the ranks in the echelons of organisations like the SACP, ANC and COSAS
“I paid my dues within the structures. I want to thank everyone who had confidence in my leadership skills by casting their vote,” said Clr Jiyane.
The councillor said he is ready to work and plans to roll up his sleeves and get dirty in serving his community.
“I am appealing to the ward 7 community to come together in creating a conducive environment where we can work together in speeding up service delivery,” said Clr Jiyane.
Clr Jiyane said he is determined to lead and unite the community in coming up with solutions to societal problems.
“For all community concerns, my office is always open and I am permanently accessible. You can find me in office number 5 at the Tembisa municipality building next to Rabasotho Hall,” said Clr Jiyane.
He said he is calling on all community members to work together with him, the SAPS, Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department and Community Policing Forum.
He plans to be responsive to all problems, like the malfunctioning of street lights and high-mast lights. He said he plans to eradicate illegal dumping and to enforce laws that prohibit illegal dumping.
Clr Jiyane said he plans to strengthen poverty alleviation programmes.
“We need to create a database for emerging entrepreneurs within the ward and to assist with enterprise development and helping them to access the broader market”.
He said he is looking to partner the ward with business organisations like the Black Business Council to assist entrepreneurs with coaching and mentoring.
“We will also organise more career exhibitions. These are amongst ward 7’s annual plans. All these plans are attainable when we work together,” said Clr Iiyane.
He said he is open to new ideas and he encourages residents who have ideas to come and present them in his office.
He can be contacted on 072 994 0327 or 011 999-1975.
