Birchleigh beggar rushed to hospital

He was admitted to Tembisa Hospital

A homeless man, Hannes Bothma, is in hospital after he was found unconcious at his place of begging in Birchleigh on Thursday afternoon.

Jan Vermaak, AfriForum chairman safety and security, said: “I received a call from a resident about the beggar that is always on the corner of Olienhout and Houtkapper streets in Birchleigh. The caller indicated that there was something strange with the beggar when she passed him. He was lying on the grass and it did not look good.”

Vermaak immediately called Dirk Venter, an AfriForum patroller, to assist because he was closeby.

“On arrival Dirk observed he was not responding and Dirk immediately called an ambulance and assistance from MML Security.”

He was admitted to Tembisa Hospital.
