Video: Kitten found with part of her hind legs chopped off

Despite all her ordeals, she still purrs and is full of love

WHEN The Animal Guardians (TAG) conducted its weekly ourtreach in Etwatwa on February 7, none of them could foresee what they would come upon that day.

As they packed up they noticed a box moving in the veld, said Annalise Jungmann, senior welfare officer and one of the directors of TAG.

What they found brought the rescuers to tears. Inside was a kitten with the lower limbs of both her back legs cut off.

“All four of us burst into tears; we were overwhelmed,” Jungmann added.

A veterinarian said the cat’s legs were cut off with a sharp object, which was probably done a couple of weeks ago. The kitten’s wounded legs were not infected and she had no ticks.

“This was a loved kitty,” said Jungmann, adding that she thinks the person who was caring for the 12 to 13-week-old cat was not the one who cut off the legs.

Jungmann said the cat is not in any pain and will be able to lead a fairly normal life. The feline will soon be adopted by a Northmead resident.

At the TAG premises the little baby is now getting some time out exploring the garden and getting to know her new mommy. Life has just started for her.

Despite all her ordeals, she still purrs and is full of love.
