JUST IN: Road between Rabie Ridge and Mayibuye blocked off

'They threatened to resume the burning of tyres and will prevent everyone from going to work'

Roads have been blocked off with burning tyres between Rabie Ridge and Mayibuye along Modderfontein Road by community members.

Tembisan journalist, Jantji Ngwenyama, reports roads were blocked off after Red Ants and JMPD officers allegedly removed community members from open land earlier today.

“The executive mayor of Johannesburg, Clr Herman Mashaba, allegedly promised to meet the community on Friday. Community members have threatened to continue the protest until someone listens to their grievances. They said they want someone to address them tomorrow. They threatened to resume the burning of tyres and will prevent everyone from going to work,” said Jantji.
