Keep your umbrellas close for the rest of the week

Residents can also expect much cooler weather conditions

THE current wet weather in most of Gauteng will continue for the rest of the week.

As a result of this flood warnings have been issued on Tuesday.

The weather system responsible for the rain is known as a tropical temperate trough and is one of South Africa’s most prolific rainfall producers. This type of scenario plays out when there is a tropical low pressure to the north of the country, usually over Botswana or Namibia, and a cold front passing to the south and east of our coast.

This situation developed over the course of the weekend and has already brought very wet weather and heavy rain to some places.

There is an 80% chance that the rain will continue all day Tuesday up until Friday.

Colder temperatures will also be experienced. Johannesburg will reach a maximum temperature of 18 degrees today.
